Jayson DiMizio · Keiki Paddle 2012

Jayson DiMizio

Jayson DiMizio is a 14-year old freshman at Dos Pueblos High School who has a brain tumor. He had the tumor diagnosed when he was 7 and at that time had two surgeries that were thought to be successful. The tumor came back last summer and he had surgery for the third time in January of this year. He is currently an active ice hockey and volleyball player. He is an L.A. Kings fan. He likes to surf when he can.

He is honored -- and a little embarrassed -- to be selected as a beneficiary for the 2012 Keiki Paddle.

Jayson has participated in two previous Keiki Paddle events to benefit other kids facing challenges similar to his own. He is ready to paddle hard in this year's event.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties

The Keiki Paddle’s non-profit partner this year is the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties. Their mission is to grant one special wish to a child with a life threatening medical condition, and thereby enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The local chapter has served San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties since 1985 (27 years!) The 2012 Keiki Paddlers hope to raise $5000 to adopt the wish of a local youth through the Tri-Counties Make-A-Wish Foundation.
